Okay quick update. Can't work on the Import map today...gotta work on a TV special.
I got bored of fixing the textures so I started working on the buildings across the street. One building mostly done and a few other background buildings added. I also added the downtown skyline in the background (two .TGA textures with transparent sky).
The Swat 3 engine is annoying how it darkens distant objects automatically depending how far away your officer is. Instead of fog I guess Swat 3 uses darkness. I prefer geometry pop up rather than this darkness. No .dat file has an affect on this. Something hard coded.
Really, really wish we had a DirectDraw wrapper. It would be such an elegant solution. Drop the .dll in the Swat 3 folder and it would use the wrapper .dll instead of the original directx .dll in the system folder. I have a dream.
I am thinking of adding palm trees or such that make it look more like LA. Also thinking about adding old fashioned wood power line posts with the lamp posts attached. They are all the rage in LA.

So you're saying you could fix the annoying draw distance issue? I'm all for that. :)
No unfortunately. Sorry for the confusion. I just meant to add it to my dream list of fixes. I started to look at other games that had directdraw 7 fixes and wished we had a wrapper for Swat 3.
I am going to remove the lamp post and connect it to the power line post.
The big green dumpsters that I put in the alley look okay but they are illogical. No truck would be able to get to them properly. Maybe I should change them to the smaller kind you can wheel around?
